This project allows you to easily and fully parametrically create a gear wheel with an already aligned and 3D printable coaxial pinion, requiring no mechanical or engineering knowledge
You don't need to understand concepts like “module” or “pitch diameter”
simply enter the number of teeth and the total diameter in millimeters; the program automatically calculates the tooth size and generates the correct model
🚀 WHAT YOU CAN DO WITH THIS GENERATOR
✔ create combined wheel + pinion gears in a single piece
✔ modify diameters and number of teeth in mm (0.001 mm precision)
✔ choose whether the pinion is toothed or smooth
✔ set the pinion position relative to the wheel
✔ choose straight or helical tooth angle
✔ set the central shaft diameter
✔ set the hollow central shaft diameter
You don't need to be an engineer: every parameter has a clear name and unit of measurement
🛠️ HOW TO USE
1️⃣ Set the main wheel parameters
- Wheel teeth number
- Total diameter (mm) = outer measurement of the wheel
- Wheel thickness (mm)
2️⃣ Configure the pinion
- Number of teeth + total diameter (mm)
or - activate smooth pinion and just enter the diameter
3️⃣ Set the position
- distance between wheel and pinion (mm)
- side on which to place the pinion
4️⃣ Add shaft / hub
- diameter and positive/negative side lengths
5️⃣ (Optional)
- enable angled teeth for wheel and/or pinion
📏 MEASUREMENT LOGIC
You set:
🟢 number of teeth
🟢 total diameter (mm)
The program automatically calculates:
🔵 tooth size
🔵 effective diameter
🔵 base diameter
These values appear as read-only in the customizer
⚠️ IMPORTANT NOTES
- If you want the wheel and pinion to mesh together, use total diameters that result in a similar tooth size
- Before STL export, disable any 3D labels if you enable them for preview
🌟 WHY IT'S USEFUL
It's one of the few parametric generators where you don't need to think in engineering terms, but rather with real measurements in mm. Ideal for:
- model making
- robotics
- custom mechanisms
- rapid prototyping
