Description
Completed in 1971 to mark the 2,500-year celebration of the Persian Empire, the Azadi Tower, originally named Shahyad, is one of Iran’s most recognizable monuments. Its architecture blends traditional Persian geometry with modern curves, clad in thousands of white marble pieces from Esfahan. Standing at the entrance of Tehran, it symbolizes heritage, identity and openness.
