Description
This is a 3 inch blast gate for a vent/exhaust or dust extraction system. A 3 inch hose slips over each side of the gate and is secured with gear clamps.
The gate allows you to control how much air is being drawn. This comes in handy, when you have multiple devices. For example, you can close the gates on the unused devices to create more suction on the others. Another example might be to close the gate partly, to reduce the suction on some devices.
One concern I have is that by sucking too much air out of the back of the printer, it would cause more cold air to be drawn into the printer to replace the air that has been sucked out. This could be an issue, when printing high temperature materials.
My goal is to create just enough suction to draw out the fumes from the printer, without turning the printer into a wind tunnel.
