🐠 Wave Tropico 25W Heater Holder — Fits 24–25mm, 3–4mm Glass
— Because the Factory One Wasn’t Trying Hard Enough
Let’s be real — the factory holder for the Wave Tropico 25W heater barely qualifies as “holding.”
So I made one that actually does.
This version fits heaters around 24–25 mm in diameter and clips perfectly onto 3–4 mm aquarium glass. It’s tall, stable, and reinforced exactly where it needs to be — with extra infill and wall modifiers to handle the load, even in a less-than-ideal print orientation.
Printed mine in PLA (because it was loaded), but PETG is highly recommended if you prefer your mounts not to soften during summer.
Supports are required but remove cleanly — even if your post-processing tool is your fingernail.
(No, it doesn’t make your fish smarter. It just works.)
🧱 Full Description
The stock holder that came with my Wave Tropico 25W heater… let’s say it “lacked commitment.”
So I built a version that actually holds the heater securely and sits properly on your tank glass — without flexing, tilting, or falling off during maintenance.
This design fits heaters with a 24–25 mm diameter and mounts on 3–4 mm thick glass. The clips have just enough flex to hold firm without stress cracking your aquarium.
⚙️ Design & Printing Details
- 🧩 Reinforced where it matters: I added local modifiers for higher infill and thicker walls exactly in the stress zones — the clip arms and truss joints. That keeps it sturdy even though the print orientation isn’t the most optimal (yes, it’s tall and skinny — welcome to structural compromise).
- 🧱 Supports: Needed, but easy to remove. A few minutes of cleanup and you’re done.
- ⚙️ Material: Works in PLA, but PETG strongly recommended for better flex and moisture resistance.
- 📏 Fit: Snug for 24–25 mm heater bodies, designed to hold onto 3–4 mm aquarium glass securely.
💡 Why I Made It
Because sometimes “factory design” feels like “we gave up halfway.”
This one stays put, doesn’t wobble, and actually holds the heater where you want it — vertically aligned and not halfway floating in the tank.
Plus, it has a certain structural charm — those diagonal braces make it look like a miniature tower doing civil engineering in your aquarium.
⚠️ Notes
- ✅ Fits Wave Tropico 25W and similar 25 mm heaters
- ✅ For 3–4 mm glass thickness
- ✅ Designed to print vertically
- ✅ Add a bit more infill (30–40%) for durability if printing in PLA
- ✅ Supports: yes, but friendly ones
Print it, snap it on, and watch your heater finally behave like it’s supposed to.
Because sometimes the best factory upgrade is a 3D printer and a stubborn engineer.
