Description
Chicks are kept in a 50x33 indoor cage To prevent chicks from losing track of day and night and to establish a normal 9-to-5 schedule, I specifically made a light trough for a 12V COB LED flexible light strip (8mm wide) The back of the light trough has 2.4mm through-holes It can be attached to the cage with zip ties or paperclip wires Connect it to a 12V 1A power adapter (which is common for home set-top boxes or routers) Plug it into a smart socket with a timer function Set it to turn on at 6 AM and off at 10 PM You can set the on/off times yourself ^_^
The light strip has a fixed cutting length of 50mm per cut
A 250mm length was tested, with a power consumption of about 2W So, a 450mm length would be 4W A 12V 1A power supply is more than enough
STEP files are provided for self-modification
PS: I initially designed a 260mm length, found it a bit dim, so I extended it to 460mm The 260mm length on the second plate does not need to be printed
Required tools
- Scissors, for cutting and stripping wires
Soldering iron, for soldering the light strip power cable and DC female connector Pay attention to distinguishing positive and negative poles
DC female connector polarity definition: inner positive, outer negative If you don't understand, you can Baidu or Bing it
BOM, Bill of Materials
- COB flexible light strip, 8mm wide, 12V voltage, light color: white/warm light/warm white PS: I personally recommend warm white
- US standard 24AWG twin parallel red and black 2-core tinned copper flexible wire, determine the required length yourself
12V 1A power adapter, 1 piece Generally, power supplies for home routers, TV boxes, etc. are 12V 1A and can be used directly
DC5.5 has two types of connectors, 5.5*2.5 and 5.5*2.1, pay attention to the distinction
- DC005-5.5*2.1 female connector, 1 pack of 5 pieces Whether to buy 5.5*2.5 or 5.5*2.1 depends on your power supply You can also use pre-made cables
Self-locking nylon zip ties, white 3*80mm wide 1.9mm/800 pieces 1 pack of 800 pieces is enough for a long time
Personal anecdote: I still had some 24V light strips at home, but no 24V power supply on hand, so I used an MT3608 DC-DC boost converter module to step up 12V to 24V Using what you have is also the essence of DIY
