In a Grove
This is a Print & Play 3D printed portable board game designed for outdoor use. It only requires five basic colors to complete all components. Fitting into a palm-sized canvas pouch, it can be taken along with a picnic basket to autumn lawns or mountain campsites, becoming a fun diversion for gatherings with friends and family. Its core gameplay originates from the classic board game 'In a Grove' (2021) published by Oink, and all materials and models have been newly designed. Its inspiration comes from Ryūnosuke Akutagawa's novel of the same name — revolving around a forest murder case, eyewitness testimonies vary, some hide crucial information, others confuse real memories, players must uncover the truth from conflicting narratives, accuse the murderer, or entice other players to accuse an innocent person

Game Components

Game Rules
1. Game Setup:
- Markers and Cards: Each player has 7 player markers, 2-3 players use character cards 2-8, 4 players add 1 X character card, 5 players add 2 X character cards
- Set the Scene: Shuffle character cards, each player draws 1, leaving 4 character cards on the table, 1 as the victim, and 3 as suspects

2. Investigate Alibi:
- Look at the character card you drew, do not let others see it
- Pass the character card to the player on your left
- Look at the character card given to you by others, do not let others see it

3. Accuse the Murderer:
Rules:
- The suspect with the highest number among the three is the murderer
- If card number 5 is among the suspects, it incited the person with the lowest number to become the murderer (it could be card number 5 itself)
- Card X is always innocent
Process:
- Starting with the first player, play proceeds clockwise
- The starting player looks at any two of the 3 suspect cards, without others seeing, and places an unexamined marker above the remaining card. Place an accusation marker below the suspect card you believe is the murderer among the 3 suspects (you can accuse the one you haven't examined)
- Other players can only look at the two character cards that the previous player did not accuse. Similarly, place an accusation marker below the suspect card you believe is the murderer among the 3 suspects (you can accuse the same person as the previous player)

4. Reveal the Truth:
- Flip over all suspect cards, and determine the murderer according to the rules in the previous section
- Remove all accusation markers below the murderer from the game (put them back in the bag)
- The last player to accuse an innocent person receives all 🫵 markers and flips them to 🤡 markers to place in front of themselves (everyone else is pretending, only you are the real 🤡)
- The starting player marker goes to the player with the most 🤡 markers (it must be given to another player, not including the current starting player; if there are multiple 🤡s, give it to the one closest on the left)

5. Game End:
- If a player has 5 or more 🤡 markers, or if a player has used all 7 of their markers, the game ends
- The player with the most 🤡 markers is the loser; if there is a tie, the player with more of their own 🤡 markers is the loser; if still tied, the player closest to the left of the last round's starting player is the loser

*. 2-Player Game Rules:

Printing Instructions
- Provides two preset print profiles: a multi-color deluxe version and a single-color hollowed-out version

A Message from the Author
I really love the various small box games from Oink, they are very portable, but I was worried about damaging them when taking them outdoors, so I came up with the idea of making a 3D printed version. The development of every board game requires a lot of effort, and I hope everyone who experiences this game will also support Oink's original board games
When I first started playing this game, I often forgot that the highest number was the murderer, but when card 5 appeared, the lowest number was the murderer. So, I designed some character patterns to add to the immersion. I designed character 5 as a mysterious person—did they incite the weakest person, provide poison, or make a mysterious sacrifice? Let your imagination run wild
Thank you for reading to the end. Whether you boost or not, I will freely share the winning secret and fun of this game with you—try your best to mislead others. The next player cannot investigate your 🫵 murderer. Get others to 🫵 innocent people with you, and you can put your 🤡 marker on someone else's forehead
