Description

This component is a rack and pinion drive system designed to convert rotational input into linear output.
The assembly consists of a pinion gear (round) engaging a rack gear (linear).
As the pinion rotates, its gear teeth interface with the rack’s teeth, producing controlled forward or rearward translationalong a fixed axis.

This mechanism provides:

  • Positive mechanical engagement
  • Predictable motion under load
  • No slip, unlike belt or friction-based systems

Common tactical uses include:

  • Manual and powered actuation systems
  • Weapon platform elevation/adjustment assemblies
  • Rail system deployment mechanisms
  • Mechanical linkages requiring compact linear travel

The design is durable, mechanically simple, and reliable in environments where precision and repeatability are required without dependence on electronics or hydraulics.
