A sturdy, modular and expandable Storage Box System with a smooth-running roller shutter. Perfect for workshop, office and hobby. Easy assembly without gluing – only 8 screws!

Description:

Hello Maker!

I present to you the basic version of my new modular Storage Box System. This box is the perfect starting point to bring order to your chaos – be it in the workshop, craft room or on your desk.

The highlight is the smooth-running roller shutter (tambour door), which protects your items from dust and elegantly disappears into the housing without requiring additional space when opening.

The System Concept:

This is not just a single box! It is the cornerstone of a complete organizational system. The sturdy design offers maximum storage space on a compact footprint and is designed to be expanded with numerous inserts.

Planned Extensions (Modules):

  • Drawers in various sizes
  • Compartments and sorting inserts for small parts (screws, bits, etc.)
  • Special holders for tools and accessories

Main Features:

  • Modular & Expandable: Combine multiple boxes or upgrade them with custom-fit inserts.
  • Sturdy Design: Robustly constructed for daily use in the workshop.
  • Compact Footprint: Maximum storage space with minimal footprint.
  • Easy Assembly (No Gluing!): The box is securely screwed together and holds firmly.
  • Dust Protection: The fully closing roller shutter keeps everything clean.
  • Versatile: Ideal as a screw organizer, for 3D printing accessories, electronic components or craft supplies.

Print Settings:

  • Material:
    • Roller Shutter: PETG (Recommended for better flexibility and durability)
    • Body (Rest): PLA or PETG
  • Layer Height: 0.2mm
  • Infill: 15-25%
  • Supports: No supports required!
  • Tip: For the roller shutter slats (made of PETG), ensure good bed adhesion and clean settings (little stringing) so that it runs smoothly later.

Required Material & Assembly:

You need no glue for assembling the basic box.

Required Material (BOM):

  • 8x M3 screws (length: 20mm)

Assembly Instructions:

  1. Print all components (roller shutter from PETG, rest from PLA/PETG).
  2. Mount the upper strut into the side panel.
  3. Insert the bottom inlay (base).
  4. Slide the printed roller shutter from above into the guide rails of the side panels.
  5. Now place the second side panel onto the assembly and then finally screw the side panel to the remaining parts
