Description

Modular NASA chainmail fabric. To assemble -  connect body pieces, then insert cap into top hole.

Can be used for making fabrics, bags, bracelets, coasters, decorative elements,…

Update: Added v1.5 print profile with slightly revised sweep geometry. Both v1.0 and v1.5 parts are compatible.

Update 2: I've created a Disassembly tool for the Modular fabric - available here: https://makerworld.com/en/models/2560559-modular-nasa-fabric-disassembler#profileId-2821251

If you encounter any issues while printing/assembling or have any suggestions - write to me :)

it is very good it is just a bit of a shame that something breaks off now and then when attaching it it would have to be more stable

Yes, it is unfortunately a bit brittle. The issue is that if I try to make it stronger the flexibility of the fabric worsens, so then it is pointless. I suggest you use some good filaments, with good layer adhesion, like PCTG, that should make it stronger.

love this so far but one thing has popped up, towards the open ends of the base, I’m getting of overhang sloppiness. any ideas on how to fix this without adding support?

Hi, I added a v1.5 print profile that should lower the amount of overhang sloppiness. Hope it looks better for you now!

Thanks! by any chance do you think I could get the original file? I’m looking at making some edge pieces and I can’t replicate the “hooks” im in the process of making a shirt out of this material and really want to be able to clean up the edges!

I'm sorry to hear that. I added a youtube short for assembly, that hopefully makes it more clear. https://youtube.com/shorts/jzC4OzuluI4?feature=share
