Update (04-Nov 2025): (lift screw and gear splitter)
Based on user feedback, I’ve adjusted a few parts that were reported as too tight in the comments.
The updated version has slightly smaller and looser fits, so all parts should now assemble more smoothly without forcing.
Trigger and striker
Make sure remove all support layers from trigger and striker to work good.
Some users mentioned the power shell trigger was either sticking out or too sensitive, so I’ve added one new trigger versions — and one little long striker for smaller springs . Re-download for the best fit.
For spring :
The original model used an EasyMech 7.4 × 5.4 × 20 mm spring, which some users mentioned isn’t available globally.
You can now use any of these common alternative spring sizes instead or you can cut long spring— they all work perfectly:
Spring max outer diameter (OD) 7.4

Meet the Artillery-Style Mechanical Toy —a hand-powered, table-friendly motion model that feels alive. Rotate right handle to move turret left–right, rotate left handle to aim up–down, then use the firing handle to launch a light demo projectile. The best part? A visible recoil mechanism inside the turret snaps back after each shot, so you can see energy storage and release in action.
How it works (the fun bits)
- Traverse (left–right): A simple hand gear drives the turret ring for smooth pointing.
- Elevation (up–down): A compact linkage lifts the barrel module with a steady feel.
- Shot + Recoil: A spring stores energy for a gentle, low-energy launch. On release, a recoil slide moves back and a return band brings the system home—making the physics obvious and satisfying.
You will need (hardware)
- M2.5 screws: M2.5×5 (1 Piece) Used in barrel's gate (opener) Make sure screw after tightening should be level with barrel door's inside surface.
- Rubber band: medium-light tension (loose rubber band makes more recoil) To connect barrel with canon holder so recoil can happen
Compression spring: , OD-7.4 and ID-5.4 , length ~18-20 mm. (Don't use extra-strong springs. High force can snap plastic parts and cause injury.) Used in power shell.
