Magic Fountain (perpetuum mobile)

This is a project I've been tinkering with for a while, as playing with water and technology is fun for me. I think it fits well with the "Conveyor Belts" contest

The indoor fountain works by having the paddle wheel driven by the flowing water. The paddle wheel then drives a conveyor belt via a gear, which then transports the water back up using small trays. This water then drives the paddle wheel again……….. ;-). However, since a "perpetuum mobile" unfortunately does not work, a small water pump is installed inside the tower to generate the necessary water flow

I have divided the model into two print profiles, one for the rigid parts (PETG / PLA) and one for the TPU parts: conveyor belt, molded hose, and pump connection piece

Assembly instructions can be found below

The pump can be throttled with a slider; I have set mine to the second smallest level

Additionally required parts:

  • a small mini water pump like this one: https://www.amazon.de/dp/B09Z2NS9YF?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share
  • 5 ball bearings with dimensions Di=8 Da=12 B=3.5mm; these should be stainless steel, meaning rust-free. I initially used the Bambulab bearings (see parts list), but I suspect they will eventually start to rust
  • 9 screws M2.5x6 see parts list

Have fun
