Description

This is a working Tron Identity Disc prop! With the recent Tron Aries movie as well as Haloween around the corner I wanted to bring this prop to life, not just as a display piece but a fully functioning and durable prop using the Motion-Activated Sound and Light Props Kit. That means you have full control over the prop by changing the color, on off animations, sound, and even motion reactions. All these combined give you a super immersive experience and will be the perfect addition a Tron costume or Cosplay. Even if you dont want to use the electronics, by using a colored filament instead you can still get a fun and durable prop out of this model due to its realism and optional laser cut panels for added detail.

Filament:

I would highly recommend using a PETG Translucent Clear or PC Transparent due to its exceptional clarity and durability. For the Black I used a PLA Black. I would recommend avoiding using a CF filament if you intend to handle the prop due to risk of fibers getting into your skin causing irritation over prolonged use.

Control App:

The controller is programed using an app called FORCEPARK, it is very simple to use and connects over bluetooth allowing you to control how the prop functions. There is no dedicated sound or effect for Tron, but when you turn the on and off animation speed low you get the effect I showed in the video and sound effects are up to your preference.

Assembly:

I have included assembly instructions PDF to walk you through how to put together your new prop.

Parts notice:

The assembly instructions call for an M2x10 self tapping screw but they are currently unavailable on the site. Use M2x8, they work just the same and will not have any loss in strength. The BOM has been updated accordingly.

This turned out awesome! I made some adjustments because I wanted the PETG parts to have a less opaque look and be more "glass like". I did run into the issue of track for the LED placement being difficult to work with, and I actually couldn't get a strip to go through it. This could be due to the adjustments I made but I wanted to make the suggestion that maybe you could make at least the outer track with something like a half wall to it? So for example extending the "entrance hole" all the way around the disc body but adding a little lip to it so you just tuck the light strip in. I ended up wanting this to just be a display piece so I opted to buy some mega bright COB RGB light strips, looped them around the inside without using the tracks, and I just ran the cord out of the power button hole no issue at all. No extra modification needed. With the COB strip it syncs up to the Lotus Lantern app and I can play a little Daft Punk light show with it which I think is pretty damn cool.

Love it! and that’s a super cool modification you made to it. I will definitely be looking into that issue with getting the light strip through on the outside, and yeah the lights can definitely be a little tricky. Thank you for the feedback and I’ll be adding another profile for a higher tolerance for the light strip

I was actually unable to get it to go through either the outside ring or the inner one. For both it gets about 3/4 of the way through and then it becomes all but impossible to push the strip through. I tried with 3 different strips, a cheap regular LED strip, one that was more like the build example and then my COB strips. They all ran into the same stopping point on either ring.

This was likely due to the strip getting stuck on a piece of over extruded top surface filament, I think I have a fix though

It’s definitely a chonky boy. Haven’t hooked up the lighting kid and waiting on more translucent PETG to arrive but so far it’s turned out amazing! I love when build incorporate Makerworld electronics and the button is hidden behind where you hold it. Perfect

Pront came out awesome! I added some stuff to mine👍🏼 It would be even more awesome if that Tron disc stand included a size to fit this! I printed it not knowing it doesn’t fit this disc😅

Sorry about that 😅 I do intend on making it work just using a different size top ring so you don’t need to reprint the entire thing

The stl in the files is the assembled model and to get it into pieces you can just separate it in your slicer. Or if you want the individual pieces you can download the .3mf and then export it plate by plate for individual stls. If you’re having trouble let me know and I could do it for you as well!

Importing the .3mf file into other slicers for printers other than bamboo labs causes errors. It's easier to import STL files and configure settings as needed than to import a .3mf for a different slicer/printer and have to diagnose and fix the incompatibilities. Would it be possible to re-export the individual parts as STL files? Edit: I tried to do this in the slicer I use, but it failed due to some parts being "negative"

Ahh, no worries. I’ll update the raw model files so you can download the parts all individually ❤️

I'm making my own sound board, are you just using lightsaber effects from the forcepark app?

yes, but there’s some that are actually super close to movie effects. If you are interested in sharing them so others can use it let me know!

Does this require soldering?

nope, none at all. that’s why I chose to work with the kit from Bambu lab! 😁 just make sure to buy all the parts because we use a smaller version of the motion prop kit with added lights that are longer than the other kits bought specifically for this but you can buy it all right from the description
