Description

EDIT 3/9/2024: I created a remix of my phone model to introduce a number of improvements. People reported the printed bolts breaking trying to tighten them sufficiently to hold the stand fixed in place. New model adds notches at the two key interfaces that take all of the load. The bolts serve to keep the pieces from sliding apart, but take very little load and require very little tightening.

I recommend using the updated model:

https://makerworld.com/en/models/242128#profileId-258073

Adjustable phone holder. Allows for the height and angle to be adjusted. Can also be collapsed or disassembled for easy transport.

Phone can be held horizontal or vertical.

Has access for charging cable out the bottom.

Prints without any support or brim.

printed good. wonder if upscaling would work for an ipad

i think you'd have issues with getting enough clamp/friction. if you rough up the contact surfaces or otherwise increase friction (squish a rubber band in between?) it should work.

yeah I took some time last night after having to tighten a screw to much and it broke. here is an idea if your interested works pretty good, need tweaks.

I took your suggestion and added similar notches to an updated version of the model: https://makerworld.com/en/models/242128#profileId-258073 I also made a second version that has a wider base to accept thicker phones: https://makerworld.com/en/models/242131#profileId-258080 Thanks for the pointer! In the new version the notches take all of the load, the bolts are just there to keep the notches from sliding apart and take very little tightening. Works great with everything printed from PLA.

Works and prints great but like mentioned in another comment could need some ridges for holding the arms in place

check remixes. I uploaded 2 new version both with notches to anti rotate the arms. one 12 mm max phone with and the second 16 mm max phone width. the bolt in the notched version doesn't need to be tightened because the notches take all of the load. so you can print the bolt out of pla at low infill.

worked great for me. try petg at 100% infill per my print profile. PLA can't be tightened enough.

Care to comment as to why the bolts are not usable? everybody else has had zero issue and I don't appreciate the zero star review. I've printed 5 of the older version that you printed and they all worked great. I uploaded a new version with notches at the interface so the bolts don't need to be tightened very much at all - see below: https://makerworld.com/en/models/242128#profileId-258073

Will this hold the phone in full 90deg? Looking for something that will hold completely upright (90deg) or even fall backwards a little to capture time lapse sunrises.

90 degrees likely. but it would be tipsy. it definitely can't hold the phone leaning forward.

If you say it's "very good" why did it only get 3 stars? Also I already created an updated remix with notches that hold the structure in place without needing to tighten the bolt. Check remixes to this model.

The thread was very tight but with PLA it still worked without the screws breaking. :)

can help to scale the bolt down. it is already scaled down a bit in the print profile but may need to be scaled down further.
