Description
Welcome to My Latest Experiment!
Back in 2022, I spent countless hours crafting resin WW2 wagons on the Saturn 3 resin printer. Fast forward three years, and thanks to leaps in FDM technology, I’ve redesigned one of those wagons to be FDM-ready!
Why FDM?
It adds strength, multi-color capability, and lets the model come off the printer ready to hit your layout almost immediately. This redesign is all about squeezing the maximum detail and color separation from FDM, making assembly quick and display-ready.
A Bit of History
These flatcars were first built in 1940 to haul heavy cargo such as tanks and military vehicles. With a loading length of 8,800 mm, they were initially designated SSkra with a 48 ton capacity and later standardized as SSy with a 50 ton capacity. After 1949, they served both the Deutsche Bundesbahn in West Germany and the Deutsche Reichsbahn in East Germany (DDR).
Model Specs
- Scale: H0 (1:87)
- Note: Variations in wartime and postwar designs may cause small differences between historical photos and this model.
Requires: 4 Märklin axles (E700580 for DC or 700150 for AC) and 2 Märklin couplers (72000). and 2 Bambulab 2.5×6 mm machine screws.

Important Notes
- Use a 0.2 mm nozzle for best detail.
- Print supports in PETG.
- Handle with care, as the design is delicate.
Tips for Smooth Running
Just like with regular model trains, a touch of lubrication on the axles ensures the best performance.
