Print settings (tested)

  • Printer: Bambu Lab A1 Mini
  • Nozzles tested: 0.6 mm (black — largest sample), 0.4 mm, 0.2 mm
  • Layer height (suggested):
    • 0.6 mm nozzle → 0.28–0.32 mm (fast & sturdy)
    • 0.4 mm nozzle → 0.20–0.24 mm (balance of detail/time)
    • 0.2 mm nozzle → 0.10–0.14 mm (highest detail, longest time)
  • Perimeters: 3–4
  • Infill: 10–15% (Gyroid/Cubic)
  • Top/Bottom: 3–5 layers (@0.2 mm)
  • Brim: 3–5 mm recommended on larger scales

Orientation & supports

  • Print upright (default pose).
  • Supports only where needed: under the outstretched gun arm, coat tails, and small spots under glove fingers.
  • Important: when painting supports, take special care around the hand (fingers/trigger guard). Use Support Painting / Blockers to protect fine details.
  • Support interface: 2–3 layers; standard Z-gap.

Multicolor (color OBJ)

  • Import the OBJ in Bambu Studio → Keep vertex color / map to AMS colors.
  • Suggested 7-color palette:
    1. Coat — sand/brown
    2. Pants — military green
    3. Boots — dark brown
    4. Rocks — dark gray
    5. Base sand — beige
    6. Helmet — olive
    7. Goggles/accent — red
  • Enable purge reduction; slow down for thin features (goggles, trigger).

Scaling

  • Scales well 80–200% (base size fits A1 Mini without rotation).
  • Scaling up: consider more perimeters or a 0.6 mm nozzle for speed/rigidity.
  • Scaling down: use a 0.2 mm nozzle and finer layers.

Materials

  • PLA / PLA-Tough — easiest, stable.
  • PETG — tougher; increase support Z-gap.
  • Resin (SLA) — feasible, use very light supports near hands/weapon.

Quality tips

  • Reduce speed for small hand/weapon features.
  • Enable Ironing: Top surfaces (0.2/0.4 mm nozzle) for a smoother coat.
  • After support removal, clean gently with a scraper and soft brush.

Test prints

  • Confirmed on A1 Mini:
    • 0.6 mm — quick “sculptural” look (largest black print)
    • 0.4 mm — good balance
    • 0.2 mm — highest detail
