Backstory

Two Kegs lost both his beloved wife and the love of his live during childbirth. Not even two kegs of ale could drown the sorrow of his loss. The midwife, hardened by witnessing such tragedies too many times, placed the newborn into Two Kegs’ trembling arms. With tears still in his eyes, he gazed upon the child. In her eyes, he saw the reflection of the woman he had lost. His heart softened, and he whispered, “You shall be called Kaela, in honor of the bold soul who gave her life so that you might have yours.”

Two Kegs never remarried. He retired from adventuring, settled down, and opened the inn and tavern where Kaela grew from babe to young woman at his side. She wasn’t exactly what most would call “ladylike.” Though Two Kegs gave her enough love for both father and mother, he passed on little in the way of gentle or delicate traits.

Kaela became known to the regulars as “Steel-Mug Kaela.” She earned the name at just fourteen, the night two drunken mercenaries started a brawl in the tavern. With one hand she hurled a frothing mug across the room to douse their rage, and with the other she pulled her father’s massive hammer from behind the counter. Before the spilled ale even hit the floor, she had knocked both men back onto their stools. From that night on, the tavern crowd called her Steel-Mug in tribute to her iron nerve and quick arm.

She still serves every guest with a smile, but she’s always ready to raise her mug in welcome… or her father’s hammer in warning.

Printing Notes

Printed horizontally for crisp detail and overflowing ale. A slight top Z-offset tweak made the minimal supports pop off cleanly. I’m still experimenting with fully support-free minis, but this setup strikes a solid balance of durability and polish.
