Description

Summary

This is a replacement screw cap designed for a standard 20-liter jerrycan. It features a dedicated groove for a flexible, 3D-printed TPU gasket, which ensures a secure and leak-proof seal. Perfect for replacing a lost or broken cap for your water, fuel, or other liquid containers.

Details

I designed this cap because the original one for my 20L can was damaged. This model is a robust and functional replacement that you can print at home. The main feature is the separate gasket, which should be printed in TPU or another flexible filament. This provides a much better seal than a simple plastic-on-plastic connection, preventing leaks.

The cap has been modeled to fit the common thread of many 20-liter plastic jerrycans like the one shown in the picture.

Printing Instructions

I recommend the following settings for a successful print:

Cap:

  • Material: PETG

Gasket:

  • Material: TPU or another flexible filament

Assembly

Once the two pieces are printed, insert the TPU gasket into its groove inside the cap. To ensure it stays firmly in place during screwing and unscrewing, it is advisable to glue the gasket to the cap with a few drops of suitable adhesive (e.g., cyanoacrylate/super glue).

Once the gasket is secured, screw the cap onto your jerrycan for a perfect watertight seal!
