Beautiful. I've been printing for almost 8 years and have had this old roll of TPU laying around for about that long. Dried it for 6 hours today and this was my first ever print with TPU and it looks great! Thank you!

wow, that’s amazing. I’m glad you liked it.

Was that fed through an AMS or external spool setup?

It was external. even if I had AMS compatible TPU, I'd probably still just feed it in through the back, it's not super hard to set up on the X1C.

first time with TPU and I needed a little test, this was perfect and gives me confidence to print more goodies! Bonus, I'm wearing this as a pinky ring today 🙂

why is the tpu I got not like bendy, it’s like just like a hard plastic that’s easier to bend and keeps its other shape. I use an ams 2 with my bamboo p2s, what tpu should I get for it? I want like an actual tpu. that or what settings do I use, I’m somewhat new to using my printer.

Hey, i would recommend Overture HS TPU 95a. it’s worked amazing for me, and it seems to be the only highly rated TPU on Amazon that’s not ridiculously expensive. the most common TPU is 95a, and there’s a lot of Chinese companies that make some poor quality TPU. And btw “95a” is just a measurement of the “sure hardness.” so there’s different letters that mean different hardnesses. but the most common is like 95(a). if you want something even softer, i have a tpu called “Siraya Tech Flex TPU Filament - 85A Shore”, which is a relatively soft TPU, that’s not insanely expensive. (the lower the sure hardness typically means the more expensive it is) I would always recommend using an external spool instead of the AMS for printing TPU. if you have any further questions let me know.

is it good for a bamboo printer, also good to know to use tpu outside ams. also is there something I should get to keep it dry while not in use?

What was your problem? Did the filament need drying? I see a similar issue.

Great print for getting setting right if you get a new TPU! Left is how it looked with default settings, but a few quick prints later got us the one on the right!

What did you change to fix it? Mine looks more like the one on the left.

What made the biggest difference was lowering the nozzle temp! We're using cookiecad tpu and lowered the temp from default tpu setting (240C) to 215C. We just printed a few testers using different values people recommend online, but you could also try a tpu temp tower!

I finally tried some super old TPU 55D I haven't used for years… and it worked perfectly! Adhesion to textured PEI sheet was good.
