Book Shoe for Mistborn Leatherbound - Cosmere
Print Profile(1)

Description
Brandon Sanderson's Leatherbound Cosmere books are BEAUTIFUL, but one of the biggest issues that can plague them is page sagging if the books are stored upright. Due to the pages being super heavy, over time, it's possible for the binding to sag.
ENTER THE BOOK SHOE! A handy tool that literally holds up the pages of a book to prevent gravity from pulling the binding away from the spine of the book.
For many years, the Sanderson collecting community has made their own, using cardboard or other arts and crafts materials, and there just hasn't been a solid solution that I could find that didn't require me to get out the scissors and glue. So I decided to design my own that can be 3d printed in two separate versions - a single piece or multiple assembled pieces.
The dimensions of this book shoe are based off of my own Mistborn Leatherbound, which is the 7th printing. I don't think there's been much variation, but just know that all leatherbounds are unique and there may be some slight dimensional anomalies from my version to yours.
I noticed that the single piece version tended to make the book cover not sit as flush to the pages as the assembly version, but also felt more solid, so I'm including both for your printing pleasure.
As I'm planning to design a shoe for all of my Leatherbounds, I've also included the Allomantic symbol for Iron as a cutout in the base of the shoe, so you can know which leatherbound it goes to.

I am currently designing book shoes for all of Brandon Sanderson's Leatherbounds and Secret Projects - too see all of my available designs, check out my collection here.
PRINT SETTINGS
.2mm Layer Height
75% Infill
2 wall loops
I printed at 75% infill to strengthen the side walls mostly. If you want, for the cut version, you could decrease the base infill 15%, but I wouldn't recommend going much lower than 75% on the single piece otherwise the sides can become too flimsy.
Models printed in both Sunlu Clear PLA and Anycubic Red PLA
PLEASE NOTE: PLA is considered to be inert and acid-free once printed, but you may want to consider coating yours in Archival Spray or something similar if you're extra particular about the long term quality of the pages. I can't promise this won't damage a page over time, but I've also had mine on my copy of Mistborn for months with no issues.

I'm just a dad with a hobby - if you like what I design, consider giving me a boost so I can get more filament to fuel the hobby :) Thank you!
