Summary
This is a loose reproduction of Panduit CHF2M, which allows 2 mini-com modules to be installed in 1/3 modular wall plate. I had to make the tabs very rigid to stop them from breaking off. Depending on the position you are installing it in, it is sometimes possible to start at an angle and rotate the module into place which makes it easier to get it snapped into position. If you have to snap it straight in, it's possible, you just have to press very hard. Same for un-installing the module, it's possible, but not easy or fun. For me this "semi-permanent" installation is okay since I am not taking them apart frequently and I would prefer durability and strength over ease of installation.
Edit: I uploaded a version 2 where I have tweaked the design and tolerances slightly so that the module is easier to snap in but still snaps securely. The difference between the two versions is very small, but I think the v2 version is slightly better. I am printing in PLA+ on an X1C printer and for me, the v2 achieves a perfect fit with secure snap. I prefer to “print by object” when printing things that need to be strong as I think the layer adhesion is a little better, this is the reason why in the print profile there are not many of them on the build plate. You can change back to “print by layer” if you want so you can print more at a time. The reason for two different plate layouts is just to avoid wearing out one spot in the build plate when printing many batches of them.
