Description

Sometimes we just don’t have the time or energy to print full minis for every monster/creature. These 2D press-fit tokens are my quick replacement to keep immersion high at the table without a long print queue.

I saw a similar idea posted here and loved it—so I made my own twist with a few tweaks for readability, sturdiness, and base fit. This first pack includes 7 monsters from the Dragon of Icespire Peak campaign, with silhouettes designed to be instantly recognizable on the map. (actually, I will have my first experience ever as a DM with this campaign and wanted to include some 3D prints! I am pretty new to this, so feedback is welcome!)

  • 7 monster tokens for DoIP (double-sided artwork: the image reads clearly from both sides. Although plate side will be always crisper)
  • Standard footprint: tokens are 20 mm so they blend with D&D minis and existing accessories; larger creatures use 30 mm press-fit bases
  • Press-fit bases: tokens snap into 20 mm or 30 mm bases depending on creature size
  • Optional editable numbered bases to help you find out which orc attacks next and which one is low life
  • Ultra-efficient: each token is only 1 mm thick—prints fast and only 4 filament changes, yet is tough enough for play
  • Detachable bases mean the creatures can pop off for compact storage.
  • You only need to print a handful of bases—just snap on whichever monsters you need for the session.

  • Nozzle: Works with 0.4 mm (some fine details may disappear - the models in the photos are printed with 0.4mm). 0.2 mm is ideal for crisp outlines.
  • Orientation: Print flat on the bed; no supports.
  • Material: PLA works great.
  • Fit tips: Press-fit tolerances are tuned for a snug feel in PLA. If your fit is tight/loose, scale the token or base by ±1–2%.

I plan to release more packs, starting with additional monsters from Dragon of Icespire Peak and expanding from there.

If you like the idea, please boost the model, so others can find it.

if it were possible to print them without ams they would be perfect or by making the black parts in relief even by a few millimeters

I will post for no ams printing later this week. unfortunately you won’t be able to have both sides in one go, but maybe I could make two mirror sides and fit them together … will think on that

Great bro, I'd like to know what process you follow to make a version of my hero, do you use fusion360 or something like that

hello, I didn’t use any cad software on those. what you need is to have a 2d model of your hero with bold lines. find it on the internet, draw it or generate with AI, your choice. then I imported to the » make your keychain” maker lab tool at makerworld and simplify the shades of colors until I have only black and white. final part is to import into the slicer and add the base and thickness. it’s a little bit long process but very feasible

2d tokens are great for trash mobs. These printed without issue.

I absolutely love this, and I'm using it to them as 2d monsters that pop out of a magic book (like a Paper Mario vibe)
