Description

With autumn/fall upon us why not spend a cozy night in making pumpkin scented candles for your house? This Candle burns well and is easy to make! Perfect for haunted house décor, trick-or-treat night ambiance, harvest tables, seasonal gift baskets or just to bring the warmth of autumn indoors with handmade pumpkin candles! This mould makes it easy to create candles that add a cozy touch to crisp autumn evenings. Once molded, the wax can even be carefully carved with a craft knife to add your own custom faces or art to the candles.

This mould prints easily and is infinitely re-usable. I highly recommend PETG to give it that little bit of extra heat tolerance for the hot wax. I used Bambu Lab's Clear PETG so I could get a rough estimate of how full the mould is.

The main hole in the upper mould is for the wick and for pouring in the wax. The smaller holes are to allow air to escape as you pour the wax, and for topping up the upper segments of the pumpkin as the wax cools. I would reccoment taping the two halves together during the pouring process. The wax I used contracts a lot when it cools so I recommend multiple pours, gently tapping the mould after each pour to try and get the bubbles out of the top. I then let the candle sit overnight.

I find it de-moulds very easily - the best technique Ive found is to pull the halves apart evenly so the pegs slide out straight. The two halves have a precise fit to stop them sliding, but should come apart easily if pulled away from each other - not at an angle.

Other materials you will need:

  1. Wax - I used paraffin wax, but you could use soy or beeswax as an alternative. I melted about 225g to ensure I had enough.
  2. Scent - I would recommend pumpkin spice to fit the theme
  3. Dye - your candle can be any colour you like - but I chose orange.
  4. Wick - I used a wooden wick

Make sure to choose candle safe dyes and scents. Happy candle making!
