Mecha Pokemon Series: Mighty Charizard Statue
Concept & Design
This Mecha Charizard is one of the most challenging pieces in the entire series. Any true Charizard fan knows how difficult it is to design and print a model that truly captures its iconic proportions and presence. To highlight its overwhelming power, I incorporated mechanical armor plating, reinforced muscle structures, and detailed wings, transforming Charizard into a war-ready mecha dragon.
Engineering & Printability
After numerous test prints, adjustments, and balance refinements, this model was finally completed with stability and rich detail. Here are some important notes:
- Balance: The weight distribution has been adjusted, but the figure may still tilt backward if bumped or shaken. A small amount of clay at the feet can help secure it.
- Support removal: Handle these fragile areas with extreme care — (1) the joint between tail and flame, (2) teeth inside the mouth, (3) the thin wings, and (4) finger gaps.
- Overhang smoothing: After printing, you can use a heat gun or lighter to gently warm and smooth overhang sections for a more rounded and natural finish.
Display & Customization
The wide-winged stance makes this Charizard an instant centerpiece on any display shelf. You can keep it in its raw gray print to emphasize the mecha aesthetic, or paint it with bold contrasts — adding fiery highlights on the tail flame, shading to the armor gaps, and sharper eye details to bring it fully to life.

- The filament I used is listed below — Bambu’s Gray is truly my favorite
- Using needle-nose pliers and Bambu's scraper FAC002-N will make it easier to remove and clean up support contact surfaces!
