Description

A Minimalist 6x6 Gridfinity Case for the Bambu Lab A1

This project presents a minimalist Gridfinity case designed to fit the maximum printable area of a Bambu Lab A1 printer (6x6). The design is highly modular, allowing for versatility in use and assembly.

Key Features and Assembly

  • Modular Lid and Bottom: The lid and bottom pieces are interchangeable and can be used to create cases of various heights. The design includes two hinge examples for heights of 4U and 8U, demonstrating this modularity.
  • Integrated Hinges and Locks: Both the hinges and the locks use the same core components. This means you don't need separate parts for each function, simplifying the design and printing process.
  • Simple Assembly: The case is assembled by melting plastic stubs with a soldering iron to fuse the parts together. For added durability, you can apply a small amount of super glue after assembly.
  • Improved Sliding Mechanism: The pockets of the lock on the bottom can be smoothed with a soldering iron to improve the sliding action, ensuring a better fit and feel.

Purpose and Use Case

This design is ideal for users who primarily store their tools and equipment in a drawer. The case allows you to easily transport a specific set of tools without needing a separate lid, as the top and bottom pieces can be used to close the case. The base is designed to be slightly stronger, providing rigidity even when the case isn't completely full.

This case offers a practical and efficient solution for organizing and transporting tools, especially for those who want a minimalist and modular storage system.

Is there a possibility to add an handle?

I would not recommand that. It is to fragile to carry such a big case with just one handle at the front hinge. The total weight of producs I mostly carry is about 3kg. The Onshape file is free, feel free to test it.

Hi, would it be possible to add closures for the 6U height as well?
