Ruger 10/22 Finger Saver
This is a tool to assist with installing the standard Ruger Bolt over the charging handle in the receiver. I created this because it's a rather fiddly process that is getting more difficult as I get older. My fingers aren't as strong as they used to be. My dexterity is also slowly fading away.
There are many suggestions on modifying the bolt or other techniques. I didn't feel like modifying the bolt, and again some of the techniques just were becoming too difficult to do.
The process of using the Finger Saver is as follows:
- Insert charging handle and pull reward.
- Insert the Finger Saver to hold the charging handle in place.
- Drop the bolt in place.
- Apply light downward pressure on the bolt with your thumb.
- Roll out the Finger Saver while continuing to apply light pressure with your thumb on top of the bolt.
- Allow the bolt to slide forward.
