Description
The Archways of Iron Rock
The group pauses before a series of archways carved into the stone, each leading deeper into the dungeon’s twisting heart. The air is still, heavy with the scent of dust and old magic.
Barbarian (stroking his chin, attempting sophistication):
"Ah yes... you can really see the, uh... curvature of the load-bearing... rune lines. Classic... dwarfo-elven fusion, I’d wager. Very... stony."
Wizard (without looking up, rummaging through his satchel):
"By Sigmar’s socks, he’s trying to sound educated again."
Bek the Dwarf and the Elf (simultaneously stop, blink, and stare at the barbarian):
Bek (deadpan):
"You’ve been listening to us talk about stonework, haven’t you?"
Barbarian (grinning proudly):
"Picked up a thing or two. I’m basically a connoisseur now."
Bek (snorting):
"Connoisseur? This arch looks like some blind unskilled orc tried to chisel it with goblin bones—and even he gave up halfway through. By Grungni’s beard, a blind goblin with mittens could shape straighter stone."
Elf (tilting his head, voice calm and melodic):
"I must respectfully disagree."
The barbarian and wizard both freeze mid-motion, eyes wide. They glance at Bek, who is now staring at the elf with the intensity of a forge fire.
Elf (continuing, unfazed):
"Stone itself weeps to be treated so poorly. These marks aren’t cuts—they’re scars of failure. It’s proof the ancestors curse the hands that touched it."
Bek (guffawing, loud and genuine):
"Ha! Ancestors curse the hands? That’s poetic nonsense—but I’ll give you this: it’s the prettiest insult I’ve heard all week."
Wizard (muttering):
"Still not over the beard incident..."
Barbarian (nodding solemnly):
"Stone scars. I’ll remember that. Sounds deep."
Elf (smiling faintly):
"Deeper than the cracks in this archway."
The group moves on, the archways behind them echoing with laughter, dust, and the quiet camaraderie of warriors who’ve bled together—and now bicker like brothers.
Boost Me (for free)
The goblins and snotlings need a BOOST in moral after that story. I could use a boost or 2 as well. Thanks for reading
This is a scan of the original archway that a friend did for me. It's definitely not the best quality but it is certainly far from the worst (believe me I made much much worse hahaha) and it only took him 6 months or so to get back to me with this!!
I have made the archway so you can use it with the original cardboard tiles and with the Archway OpenLOCK 1x2 base I made. There is also the option to just print it together as 1 piece. Originally I didn't think I liked it like that but since printing a few it might be a better system. Of course if you have the original doors from the game I would 100% use them over this. I really want this to be as complete of a recreation of the original 1995 game, so I will continue to make the accessories as well as the remaining rooms, halls and tokens/place holders.
These were all printed on .2mm nozzle with a layer ranging between .06mm and .1mm using Bambu Matte Ash Grey - I prefer the highest quality but it does take quite a bit longer.
I did one print with the .4mm Nozzle and there was very little detail difference between the 2 at .08mm layer height.
You need to print a lot of doors so try a couple of different settings to see what you prefer.
Supports - I have printed with and without supports and the only issue that I have encountered (on both settings) is directly under the arch is a little rough. My modeling file fixes it smooth in about 30 seconds.
I also made the archway extensions that you really only need 1 or 2 printed for the objective rooms
