Description
Key box disguised as a motion sensor
Unobtrusive, deterring because of the "motion sensor"
Simple, quick print in PLA or PETG, no AMS needed, no magnets. Flashing LED optional with AA battery holder
Multiple versions:
Box with or without space for a battery box (2x AA battery holder) for a 5mm flashing LED. Available on Amazon, for example. (12V model works)
Lid with or without a hole for LED/fake LED (5mm LED)
Attach this to the wall to hide something inside, indoors or outdoors. For example, by the house entrance for the house key
It simply looks like a motion detector, so no one suspects a key inside, and it even has a deterrent effect because strangers think their movement is being detected if they get too close
The small box has internal space of 72x46x18mm.
In the version with a 2x AA battery holder, there is approximately 72x46x10mm of space. (72x46x32mm without battery holder)
There is also an angled holder included that can simply be glued into the lid so the key doesn't fall out when opened.
You can simply omit it during printing if you don't need it

I am grateful for any support to be able to make more models
Model quick and easy to print with a 0.4 nozzle
Fake Motion Sensor and Fake LED have been reduced in print speed and layer height so they can be printed with higher detail and look better
For indoor use or protected from sunlight and weather, you can easily print it in PLA, otherwise, I would recommend PETG
The lid holds itself and is simply inserted and pulled out again.
If you use a battery holder, glue it into the box so it doesn't fall out when opened. (One dot of hot glue is sufficient)
If you want to use the angled holder in the lid, I also recommend gluing it (it can be clamped in but doesn't lock and could therefore fall out again)
The Fake Motion Sensor is simply glued onto the lid in the designated recess
Optional: The fake LED or real LED is glued into the designated hole. Before printing, pay attention to which cover model you are printing
For those who want a flashing LED, the following is needed:
- 1x 2xAA battery holder
- 1x 5mm flashing red LED
- 2x AA batteries
all available in common online stores such as Amazon
I was looking for a simple model that appeals to as many people as possible and is easy to print.
I really liked the idea that a motion sensor might still deter a bit, and it's a small bonus.
That's why I created this key box in Tinkercad
To keep it as inconspicuous as possible that it's not a real motion detector, I would print the box in black, gray, white, or shades thereof. The motion sensor (hemisphere) in white or transparent, and the LED in a slightly darker red
I hope you like the model, if you have any suggestions for improvement, feel free to contact me
It would be nice if you could support me a little, whether with a like, comment, photo, or boost, or by following my profile. This keeps the interest in creating more models and further improving existing ones. Modeling and test prints take a lot of time to ensure everything fits as perfectly as possible
Thank you for your interest
