Description

KNO 9000 - I’ll be monitoring your prints… very carefully, Your prints will be flawless. You can trust me. I’m watching your printer. I’m watching everything

Meet the KNO 9000 — a custom case designed for the BigTreeTech Knomi that gives it a playful twist on the iconic HAL 9000 from 2001: A Space Odyssey. Instead of a cold and menacing supercomputer, this design reimagines the look into a smaller, friendlier, and slightly adorable version of the classic red-eyed panel.

Unlike the usual Knomi setup where it’s mounted directly on the printer, the KNO 9000 is made to be used as a stand-alone counter or desktop display. That way, you can keep an eye on your printer’s progress away from the machine itself.

The centerpiece of the design is the glowing “eye” — pair it with a looping .gif animation of HAL’s red lens for the full effect. Whether you’re a sci-fi fan or just want your Knomi to stand out on your desk, the KNO 9000 balances retro cinematic style with a touch of charm.

Perfect for anyone who loves space, movies, and maker culture.

➡️ Please post pictures of your creations! And if you can make a better, more adorable version of the .gif, feel free to share it in the comments — this is my first attempt at making one, and I know it’s not the best.
