Printing & Assembly Guide – Lumidome Pyramid Lamp

The Lumidome Pyramid Lamp is a modular design, which means you can mix and match parts to create your own unique look. Below you’ll find step-by-step instructions to print and assemble the lamp.

Step 1 – Print the Base Frame

• Start by printing the Base Frame.
• Once printed, feed the LED lamp cable through the opening at the bottom.
• Press the connection cable firmly into the channel at the bottom — this acts as strain relief so the cable won’t pull loose.

💡 Print tips:

• The included print profile is optimized for smooth results: extra support prevents rib shifting, and ironing ensures a polished surface finish.
• For best results, use a dark, opaque filament so no light bleeds through.
• Example: Matte Charcoal Black PLA.

Step 2 – Choose & Print the Inner Pyramid

You can choose between two pyramid styles for the light housing:

1. Thick-wall pyramid – features a diamond-shaped pattern created by the infill (recommended 15% grid infill). Great for decorative, patterned light effects.
2. Thin-wall pyramid – lightweight, smooth, and optimized for maximum light output.

💡 Print tips:

• Use a highly translucent PLA to let the light shine through beautifully.
• Example: Translucent Natural PLA.
• Feel free to experiment with different infill types on the thick-wall version — each one creates its own unique glow pattern.

After printing, place the pyramid into the recess of the frame, directly over the LED fixture.

Step 3 – Select and Insert the Slides (Dividers)

The slides are required design elements that sit between the frame and the pyramid, giving your lamp extra character. There are three styles included:

• Solid slides
• Honeycomb slides
• Flame-pattern slides

How to install:

1. Insert the slides one at a time into the slot at the bottom of the frame.
2. Push them upward until they lock into place.
3. Slides are slightly tapered — make sure the narrow side goes in first.

No screws, no glue needed — the tapered fit holds everything firmly together.

Optional Add-Ons

Diffuser Disc

• You can place a diffuser disc on top of the LED unit to soften or recolor the light.
• Example: an orange diffuser disc creates a warm, fire-like glow.
• Want to make your own diffuser? A STEP file is provided for customization.

Rainbow Diffuser (Experimental)

• An advanced option that transforms plain white light into a rainbow gradient.
• Tips:
  • Print the diffuser’s tubes in a reflective filament (e.g. silver) to reduce light loss.
  • Rings can be printed in multiple colors — even just two if your printer doesn’t support more than four filaments.
  • Use a transparent plastic as the base layer to hold the rings together securely.
• Once printed, place the diffuser inside the ring, then set it over the LED.
