Modular Storage Box Family for IKEA Metod kitchen Maximera drawers

What is it? This is a modular storage box with various sizes and a set of accessories designed for the mid and high-height Maximera drawers of the IKEA Metod kitchen system. I created it inspired by the original Variera boxes, which were very useful but have since been discontinued by IKEA.

Modular Box Family consist of:

• Standard Box: The 10x15cm (at the top) box is available in both mid and high sizes. High boxes are available with a mount for both mid and high-height Maximera drawers (check the side rail of your drawer). 
• Hex-Pattern Cover: A cover for the 10x15cm box with a hex pattern for organizing utensils. It fits all 10x15cm boxes. 
• Hex-Pattern Inlet: For even more stable utensil organization. Choose the version that fits your mid or high 10x15cm box. It can be used with or without the cover. 

• Side Bar Mounts: Two versions are available: 10cm and 5cm, both fitting all box sizes. The 5cm version allows you to place the box closer to the front of the drawer, where the first 7.5cm of the side rail has an additional plastic cover that interferes with the standard mount. This is why I designed the mount detachable, which also helps with printing without support. 

  

Notes:

• The connection between the mount and the box is designed to be very tight. If you have difficulty fitting them together, you can lightly sand or file the connecting parts for a better fit.
• The mount fits the drawer's back side, however the shape of the back plate prevents a tight fit, resulting in a slightly loose connection.

Printing Notes 

• I printed the original model with PETG at a 0.28 mm layer height using a 0.4 mm nozzle with 10% infill. This design should also work with PLA, ABS, and other filaments. 
• Use the provided printing profile, which is optimized to significantly reduce the amount of filament needed for the inlets. 
• The mid-size box is compatible with the A1 mini. The high version of the box is 22cm tall and, unfortunately, will not fit on a smaller printer. 
• Each part is named so you can choose the specific ones you need. 
• No support is required. A brim is only recommended for printing the side bar mount since it's a tall print. Feel free to disable it if you have good bed adhesion.
