This compact, Swiss Army knife–inspired key holder is designed to organize any number of keys of any size. With fully customizable Key Cover and Key Holder Generators, you can create tailored covers for each key and scale the holder to match your needs.

It features a stable pivoting mechanism that keeps keys in place when rotated, offering satisfying clacky haptic feedback—almost like a fidget toy.

🚀 (BETA): Added new, stronger cover, checkout end of Description

🖨️ Printing Plan Overview

  1. Generate key covers using the Key Cover Generator based on the shape and size of each key.
  2. Add a Text label (optional)
  3. Set up a print pause to embed your key mid-print.
  4. Generate the main key holder model, specifying the total number of keys and the size of the largest key.
  5. Print and assemble the components.

🔧 Key Cover Generator Instructions.

1. Enter dimensions of your key’s bow (top part).

 2. Input key thickness and blade width where it meets the bow.

Note: If your key thickness exceeds 3.8mm, use the new special cover generator “key-cover-generator-double-thickness”, which allows you to create a cover for up to 7.8mm. Just ensure that to count this as two keys when generating the holder for the extra-thick key.

3. Download and open the model in Bambu Studio

  • Optionally, add a label using text.
  • Keep text thickness ≤ 1mm and depth ≥ 0.4mm for clarity

Important

4.  Set a print pause right before the cavity layer begins.

  • Once paused, place the key into the print.
  • Resume printing to embed it securely—just like inserting magnets mid-print.

🔧 Key Holder Generator Instructions

  1. Enter the length of your longest key and the number of keys you want to hold.
  2. Download and print the generated holder model.

Then download and print,

🧩 Assembly Instructions

  1. Insert a shaft peg to one side of the holder, the side with the keychain hole.
  2. Add your keys, aligning the notched side opposite the keychain hole.
  3. Place the second outer cover on top and secure it.

✨ Special Key cover instructions

Not centered key blade

When your key blade is not centered, use `key-cover-generator-with-blade-offset` generator and fill one side of the key blade offset

🚀 BETA Release
* New, Stronger, and lighter Key cover version.

New Generator added `beta-key-holder-system-new`, this will print the key cover vertically, making it stronger. It involves a printable M5x0.8 screw for more secure holding.

Still under testing, please provide your valuable feedback so I can improve and replace the original cover version with a more better version, ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️,

How to generate and Print

  • Open `beta-key-holder-system-new` generator
  • Fill out all parameters; the definition is the same as the current version of the holder generator
  • Download the Model, and update the print profile with the following settings
    • 0.20mm Standard
    • Wall loop : 3
    • Top Surface Pattern: Concentric
    • Bottom Surface Pattern: Concentric
    • Enable Support: Checked
    • Remove Small overhangs

Assesmbly

The assembly should be self-explanatory

  • Placing keys through the shaft
  • Place it between cover
  • Pass the peg throw cover and shaft,
  • Tighten the other side with the nut

🧪 Experimental Feature: Dual-Side Cover Generator

An experimental generator is available for creating a dual-sided key holder. This version allows keys to be added on both sides of the holder, effectively doubling capacity in the same footprint.

⚠️ Note: This design relies entirely on two side shaft pegs for integrity. Durability has not been tested. So adding glue is recommended.

don’t print this, this generator only supports maximum thickness of 3mm. and you have 4.5. I have not assumed this, I’ll add new generator to support more thicker keys.

@Surotar, I have added a new generator which allows you to create a cover up to 7.8mm thickness of the key, just make sure to count as two key when you generate key holder

Printed in PLA. So far, it's working well. As the creator recommended, I used some glue on the support. This was a test. Surely if next time I use a textured plate and a 2 mm nozzle to print the support, the handles will be much nicer and more defined...

Very good design and great tutorial on how to customize it the key organizer is too wide so I will try the double version (3 keys on one side and 2 on the other)

Thanks, Your print looks great, dual side version should work fine with a spacer for 5 keys. But stay tuned I'm working on durable and lite design of the cover, which will work this key covers.

It's amazing model! Thank you for you effort! I would like to add some comments/suggestions, based on my experience. 1. For the one-side Key Holder i suggest to move keychain hole to the opposite side or even to the the bottom(see my second picture) 2. I did't tried yet the BETA Release but it seems that there are parts, which making this awesome holder not so ergonomic: the nut and the keychain hole. My suggestion for the keychain hole is the same - to move it to the bottom. As for the nut - i have no idea how to make it better and keep ability to disassemble. But probably the approach of the original version + drop of superglue to secure the shaft peg will work for people, who is not planing to disassemble it :)

Hello, I have a question about the generator. Apparently, keys where the key shaft is not centrally placed on the key head are not supported (see photo). Is it possible to adjust the editor to shift the recess across the width of the key

Cool idea. I love the hinge, so satisfying to click. however the whole thing seems to bulky for just a few keys. May want to revisit the key cover wall thickness in the script. I'll give it a try. I hope I'll keep using it.

Excellent design, I modified the inner diameter of the shaft to use regular screws, hoping to increase reliability and reduce overall thickness
