This specially designed filament shelving system transforms your IKEA Kallax into a practical and stylish storage solution for 3D printer filament spools. Inspired by a Printables model (https://www.printables.com/model/671079-ikea-kallax-filament-storage-rack), this system has been completely redesigned and significantly improved:

The deeper inserts ensure that standard 8mm rods (made of wood, metal, or plastic) sit securely and stably—unintended slipping out of the rods is effectively prevented.

There is now also another print profile that has a diameter of 8.7mm instead of the standard 8.2mm hole diameter. This is recommended if the original is too tight, for example, with slightly thicker rods (common for wooden rods).

Commercially available 1m long rods can simply be divided into 3 equal parts to fit.

The system is designed so that no drilling is necessary. The holders can be easily inserted and held by precise clamping action—ideal for anyone who does not want to permanently alter their shelf. Drill holes are present but purely optional if a fixed screw connection is desired.

Also included is a small, optional adapter that serves as an assembly aid to precisely align the ideal distance between two shelf inserts. These adapters do not need to be printed—they are only relevant if screws are used.
