AMS HT Desiccant/Silica Storage/Holder/Dry Box
Print Profile(5)

Description
Several version 2 models are now available - See my model page if you're interested
Important Notice: This model contains tall, slender components that require excellent first-layer adhesion. For best results, wash your build plate with warm soapy water, rinse thoroughly, and dry completely before printing. Ensure filament is fully dried prior to use to minimise warping or detachment.
Alternate Variations:
- Desiccant Storage + Funnel Saver (No TPU riser)
- Desiccant Storage + Funnel Saver + TPU Riser
- Single Sided Desiccant Storage Unit + Funnel Saver (No TPU Spool Riser, Overall simplified Design)

Overview
Enhance the moisture control of your Bambu Lab AMS HT with this dual-compartment desiccant storage unit. Designed to store silica gel or similar desiccants, it creates a dry, controlled environment inside your AMS HT - helping preserve filament quality, extend storage life, and prevent moisture-related print defects.
Why This Design?
- Massive Capacity – Holds approx. 200 g of desiccant, more than 10× the standard AMS HT capacity.
- Dual Compartments – Maximises drying efficiency with left and right chambers.
- Slide-and-Lock Lids – No tools required for a secure, airtight fit.
- Optional Funnel – Quick, spill-free filling directly into the compartments.
- AMS HT-Compatible – Designed to fit within spool clearance range for seamless operation.
Dimensions & Fit
- Left Compartment Width: 12 mm
- Right Compartment Width: 8 mm
- Total Capacity: ~200 g (varies with desiccant type)
✅ Fits AMS spools 50 – 68 mm wide
⚠️ Can fit up to ~72 mm, but best performance is within the official AMS range to avoid contact.
⚠️ When using the drying function with rotation enabled, be sure to secure filament with internal spool clips. Using the spool holes to tie off the filament will interfere with the storage unit.
Assembly Instructions
- Let printed parts cool completely before removal.
- Remove brims.
- Slot each leg into its corresponding recess so it sits flush with the outer edge.
- Slide the funnel over one of the compartment openings.
- Pour in desiccant, gently shaking to settle contents.
- Remove funnel, lock lid, and verify engagement through the side hole.
- Repeat for the other compartment.
- Position the unit inside your AMS HT for continuous protection.
Printing Recommendations
- Material: ASA recommended (heat & moisture resistant)
- Alternative: ABS (high heat deflection, still above AMS HT’s 85 °C limit)
- If Using PETG HF: Check heat deflection temperature - Bambu Lab PETG HF is 69 °C, so avoid exceeding this when drying.
Additional Notes
- Material & Printer: Model tested with Flashforge ASA Sparkle on a Bambu Lab H2D.
- Tolerances: Results may vary based on printer and filament type.
- Bed Adhesion: For best results, use a clean build plate and ensure filament is dry before printing.
Design & Attribution
- 100% original CAD design.
- Inspired by TT-Products’ AMS HT Extended Silica Desiccant Storage model.
- Fully original and eligible for listing as an original design.
Updates
- 15/08/2025 - Improved Funnel Design
- 16/08/2025 - Minor Adjustment to the locking tabs on the lids
- 01/09/2025 - Printing layout adjusted to be better suited for smaller printers
- 09/11/2025 - Minor geometry and print settings adjustments (Nothing major that would impact the quality of the model)
- 16/11/2025 - New print profiles added. The only difference from the original profiles is a separate plate to print a PLA funnel.
No current updates planned unless to act upon feedback
