Description

I wanted to be able to hand the box over to my Nephews that could play with it, so having a secured top was a must. I shortened the original hinge slot and then replaced what I removed with a “lid” that secures the hinge in place.  It is very snug so put the top on and start to close, then push the hinge “lid” in place.  I wanted this to go on without glue, so I used some soft pliers to get it flush.

I also moved the original handle to be split between the top and the bottom of the box.  this allows for a more secure closure method.

I can add a version of the bottom without the handle adjustment if people want to re-print just the bottom of the box with hinge “lids”.

no way!! how does the hinge work? is it a piece that can just go on the other box or does it only work with yours?

It can go on the another box, but you’d have to reprint the whole bottom piece. I’ll have to play around with a version that can be added to existing models.

also, I you wanted to do that I’d have to provide a version of the bottom without the handle adjustment, as it’s not compatible with the original top.

Hello! Those were a separate add, I just found the file and scaled them down to fit the box. Since they were an existing file someone else created I didn't want to add it to my model edits. You can find them Here: https://makerworld.com/en/models/876233-latch-with-safety-mounts-via-screws-or-tape?from=search#profileId-829242

I made them about an 1” tall and scaled together. I used this glue which works really well for 3D printed parts Starbond 4 oz. Medium CA Glue... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0B1WD4JHP?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share

Great creation my friend. I had a few dramas putting the hinge lids on but I think it will work. Did everyone else use glue to stick the “insides” to the insides of the cases, the red arrow to its holder and the Doom logo to its holder?? Thank you again. Great idea to go with a great series!!

Thank you! Yes due to the original clearances you have to lean the lid slightly forward and it helps. If other people have problems with it I can make a few more adjustments! I used Starbond medium super glue to put everything else together.
