Description
This is a modification of the original https://makerworld.com/en/models/218736-smartphone-mount-for-ps4-controller-dualshock-4 and the remix https://makerworld.com/en/models/839792-smartphone-mount-for-dualshock-4-strongerhold#profileId-785719. Both of these are excellent and I thank them for their work, however neither worked perfectly for me and as such I took their inspiration and remixed their models.
I understand this may not work for everyone. If you have a phone which is <12.5mm thick and less than 89mm tall, it should work. Keep in mind the rear arm may interfere with a “camera bump” on your phone. Enjoy!
What you will need:
This replaces the lower and upper phone clamp, “Mount3” and “Mount4” in each of the aforementioned models. Use the linked/original designs for the screw and all parts which encase the controller.
I printed mine in PETG however it should be just fine in PLA. I have also oriented this design so that both the mounts for the device and threads are not completely in sheer. I also approximated the threads, which work fine.
What I changed:
I designed it for my Xiaomi 15 in a third party case, measuring ~75mm tall and 12.5mm thick. This design should fit phones from 72mm-89mm tall and <12.5mm thick, although thinner phones may need some packing/tape behind them to prevent sliding.
The main reasons for changing was that I wanted:
- The clamps are further apart, to avoid the power/volume buttons which tend to be a bit closer to center on larger phones.
- Fit my phone with its case on, which is a bit thicker than would fit in previous designs, but also my phone is wider than those designs allow for.
- The tips should be a bit shorter so they do not block any of the screen on a low-bezel smartphone.
