Description

I was sick of always having to squaring up the stacks while playing skip-bo with the family so i decided to fix the issue.

While designing this I had 3 things I wanted to achieve

  1. Easy to print with little to no support needed
  2. Organization & Perfect Fit
  3. Simplicity

Starting with the easy to print → I created the parts so that you only need very little support for one of the parts. i made sure that the support surface was not a visible when playing the game.

I also made sure that you would not need an AMS in order to print this.

The organization and fit → I have a bit of OCD so the piles needed to very neat and tidy for me, I made 4 versions before I got the fit that I wanted for the cards. I also wanted to make the cards easy to grab and take out of the slots.

As I went through the visions i found that if we were playing at a larger table or with kids having the pick up pile attached to the play area was kind of a pain for when you needed to pick up on your turn, so I decided to make it removable so it could be passed around.

Another organization issue i fount while playing with newer players was confusing their discard pile with the stockpile. to fix this i created little trays to make the difference clear and also keeping the pile neat and tidy.

Simplicity → I didn't want this to be a complex set up with moving parts or overly fancy ideas taking away from the game. to do this I decided to just add magnets so that the piles can be held to the play area (The magnets are not needed just a nice add-on).  with the decision of magnets i wanted to make that as simple as possible as well so  made sure they can be pressure fit in without the use of glue.

I would love to hear feed back on my design so that I can continue to improve it and make it the best it can be.
