  • Milwaukee 2111-21 x 1: Headlamp

Description

Designed specifically to make the Milwaukee 2111-21 headlamp quickly and securely mountable on the West Slope Pro-180X Chest Pack; via the use of Maker's Supply magnets (CB002) which interface with the magnets on the Pro-180X Chest Pack phone flap. An added benefit is that your headlamp is now a magnetic task light as well!

Why did I make this? I HATE HEADLAMPS.

Why? I'll tell you why:

  • I always get bugs flying into my eyes when I wear a headlamp.
  • Having the light directly in line with my line of sight washes out shadows on bumps, rocks, and other obstacles; causing me to incorrectly gauge the size of the rock and depth of the hole. This issue is compounded when I'm tired.
  • I feel like I'm blinding others around me so I constantly turn it off whenever I interact with someone.
  • I often get headaches while wearing a headlamp.
  • I personally don't like having the (only) light automatically move with my head.

I've field-tested this design on a multi-day camping trip and mostly loved it. I used it while hiking at night, exploring an old mine, while setting up my tent, cooking, and peeing. I didn't have bugs flying at my face which was AWESOME! All scenarios I used it in, I loved it. The only downside is I had to be wearing the chest pack to use the chest light! That chest pack is super comfortable and I highly recommend it, but a headlamp is definitely easier when you have to crawl out of your tent to pee in the middle of the night.😏

It never fell off (even when making a big jump off a log to cross a stream), and easily fit in the lower pocket of the pack when I wasn't using it. I have added a tether loop on each side as a JUST IN CASE; especially since I can't control which magnets you buy and I don't want anyone blaming me for their light dropping in the river.😉

Bottom line: there's room for improvement/expansion, but this thing works awesome!

Special thanks to XirallicBolts for making their Milwaukee Headlamp Bracket 42-36-0215, from which I borrowed the knurled pegs which secure the headlamp in the bracket.
