Description

This model positions the picture frame board for WPC composite decking. It does it in a way that allows the board to overhang, without the need to screw the board from the top.

I wasn’t satisfied with any of the available “system” finish options for WPC decking. After a lot of thinking (and this model), I came up with a perimeter board solution that looks great—at least in my opinion.

One of the photos shows all the elements of my setup: the extended substructure, the angle bracket placement, and the model itself. Picture framing composite boards isn't uncomon, however doing it without screws going through the board was the challange.

My composite boards have a 7.8–7.9 mm channel, and I aimed for a ~5 mm gap between boards to match the spacing of my deck.

I’ve included the Fusion file in case your dimensions differ.
