Description

EDIT 7/26/2024: Added a “Wide” version for mounting to car headrests with wider spread posts. The "Main"_Body" and “Headrest_Thread” parts have been extended by 20mm. I also added a “Narrow” version which is about 12mm shorter than the original.

A universal cell phone mount which attaches to car seat headrest posts.

When my daughter gets antsy on long car rides, sometimes we allow her to watch TV shows on my phone to keep her entertained. Until now, I always just held my phone up for her to watch, which was obviously less than ideal. She sits in a rear facing car seat, so I decided to design a phone mount to attach my phone to the headrest posts for easier and more comfortable viewing. This mount can also be attached to the headrests of the driver or passenger seat facing rearward for people sitting facing forward in the rear seats.

This mount was designed to be easy to print and does not require any supports. I printed all parts in ASA so that they will withstand the hot temperatures inside the car in the summer. ABS and PETG may also work well. I recommend using at least 3 walls and moderate infill percentage to make sure it's nice and strong, especially in the phone ball mount.

Only qty. 4 M3x8 screws are needed for assembly. Please do not over-tighten any of the printed nuts or the M3 screws to avoid damage. They just need to be snug.

Note that the actual phone clamp portion of the model was heavily influenced by this model: swivel phone attachment for flexible & sturdy phone arm (100% Printed) Remixed by o Nubs - MakerWorld, however my phone did not fit in it well, so I re-designed it from scratch using it as inspiration. Shoutout to @oNubs for his awesome model and the inspiration.
