Description

This is my 4th generation of this model. I started with a Fold4 and this is the latest for the Fold7. (my Fold6 is on my models page here on MW).

NOTE:

2 NEW MODELS TO CHOOSE FROM in v2!!

Both new versions of my original Fold7 design adds an extended rear base to help prevent tipping backwards even more when using unfolded/opened. Original was good, this should be better.

One of them (PLATE#1) adds a small lip at the front of the stand to secure the phone better while in opened/unfolded mode to prevent slipping forward (this was a suggestion from my Fold6 version that I finally added).

LIP + EXTENDED BASE VERSION (PLATE#1):

  • The LIP plus new extended base is on PLATE #1 ~2 hours 15 minutes – ~125g filament)
  • The new extended base is on PLATE #2 ~2 hours 15 minutes – ~125g filament)
  • The original design is now on PLATE #3 (~2 hours print time – ~115g filament))

I also added a height multiplier for the first 5mm to bump up the infill from 15% to 25% (cross hatch) to add a little more weight to the bottom on the extended base versions.

What? Why?

The stand is designed to place the Galaxy Z-Fold 7 (closed) on a slight angle on my desk so I can see and interact with the phone without leaving it just sliding around on my desk.

You can also use the phone unfolded/opened as well (works best with the camera down to sit in the camera cutouts - but that does prevent easy access to volume/power buttons. But it should be more ‘secure’ when sitting with the cameras in the cutouts.

There are ‘notches’ where the camera can fit inside to keep the phone flat and mostly snug and secure.

Not too tight, not too loose.

You can open/unfold your phone so it can stand up and watch videos or content. Leave a slight bend to help with the balance - it may tip backwards if fully opened (new version should greatly reduce or eliminate this under normal use - I never tipped mine over without trying).

This version (the original and now the new extended base version) improves the tip over angle even more from my previous generations, so it should be more stable, just don't poke it too hard when using it unfolded/opened.

Side note:

I have noticed on my new Fold7 the angle that you can use when opened is not as nice as the Fold6 where you could almost use any angle - the Fold7 so far seems to ‘snap back’ to opened when you try to just add a little viewing angle. Perhaps that will change over time with more break in time????

This is just a functional thing that I have used for years already and this version continues on for me in the same familiar way. :)

I printed on my X1C using Bambu Matte PLA in Black - should look and work great in whatever you prefer.

I also printed a second one for use in the bathroom. :D

The profile is for Bambu Matte PLA stock settings since you can't upload profiles with custom filament profiles.

Highlights of profile:

.4 nozzle

.28 layer height

.52 line width

15% infill - but you can bump that up 5-10% for a bit more weight if you'd like.

Extended version uses 25% infill for the first 5mm to add a little more weight at the base.

I added some rubber feet (cabinet bumpers) to the bottom to prevent sliding around. They aren't really needed for the most part, but can be useful

A boost would be cool if you feel so inclined. :) cheers & thanks!
