This is a dog hole drilling aid, which can help you create perfectly vertical 20mm dog holes

Prepare your own 8mm wood drill bit, 18mm Forstner bit, and a regular 6.35mm router bit

1. First determine the center point of the tabletop

2. Using the tabletop center point as a reference, use a T-square to draw a horizontal and a vertical line through the center point

3. Use the marking plate of this model to mark the dog hole points

4. Use an 8mm drill bit to drill vertically through the marked points

5. Use the 8mm plug of this model to position the hole from step 4

6. Use the bushing of this model to drill a vertical 18mm hole

7. Use the 18mm plug of this model to position the hole from step 6

8. Use the plunge base of the Makita DRT50 trim router, install its included guide bush (and a 6.35mm router bit), to enlarge the 18mm hole and obtain a standard 20mm dog hole

What size is the Makita template collar? Perhaps other template collars from other routers would also fit, or a generally applicable template collar. Thank you in advance

Hello Michael! Unfortunately, I cannot say if other coupler rings will fit – probably not. But I will optimize the model, perhaps in the future. 😊
