Karei - Sofle RGB Case
Print Profile(1)

Description
The Karei is a 3D-printable case design for the Sofle RGB split keyboard, as well as the Sofle Choc which has identical outer dimensions.
Features
- A 7 degree tenting angle
- a neutral (zero degree) typing angle
- an open floor to minimize case resonanse
- designed to place with gaskets directly between PCB and case, gasket dimensions 4 mm height and up to 4 mm width
- no solid mount to case, keyboard is placed loosely inside.
- feet cutouts that fits 4 x 29 mm feet, with a depth of 0.8 mm
Things to note
- Does not fit the Sofle V2 or Sofle V1
- there is variance in placement of TRRS and USB connectors between keyboards as well as right and left halves. Ensure the cutout dimensions fit your keyboard and adapt the model if necessary. Cutout for USB has the smallest margins and is the most important to check, the TRRS cutout has larger margins and is likely okay
- a gasket of lower height than 4 mm will also work, but parts on bottom of PCB that may collide with the gasket platform resulting in worse feel and sound
About acoustics
It is possible to achieve a clean, neutral and relatively muted sound profile with this case.
There is a 1 mm margin between case inside and keyboard outline, to silence horisontal collisions of keyboard into the case walls, I cut out thin adhesive rubber sheets left over from the keyboard feets I had, see gray squares on the 4th and 5th image.
If attempt similar solution make sure to use sheets that are considerably thinner than 1 mm, so keyboard is not squeezed into the case, but able to bounce up and down freely without vertical friction.
I can also recommend trying plate foam and switch pads to achieve the sound you strive for.
Notice
The design was inspired by the beautiful AM Hatsu and a really cool printable case for the Corne keyboard called the Kunai.
