Description

A mobile airco draws air from the room and pumps it outside. That means that the warm outside air needs to be drawn into the house. This doesn't affect their official efficiency, due to how that efficiency  is calculated. But that does limit their real world efficiency.
This adapter allows you to connect a standard 135mm ID ventilation hose to the condenser air intake so it can draw air directly from the outside. The hose connector has course thread so the air hose can be connected securely.

 

I printed it in Bambu PLA basic white.

The best way to connect the print to the airco

  1. Take the intake grid +filter off.
  2. Take the intake filter out of it
  3. Push the print to the intake grid
  4. Drill about 10 holes in the circumference right through the original part and into the print with a tiny drill (sized for the screws) (this way the holes in the original part and the print match up perfectly)
  5. Countersink the holes (I just used the final screws and pushed them in with a Modifi3D PRO at 350°C so they'd countersink themselves)
  6. Insert M3 heat set threaded inserts into the drilled holes
  7. Screw it all together with short countersunk M3 screws 
  8. Check if everything fits
  9. Unscrew it all
  10. Put silicone grouting on the mating surface
  11. screw the whole together again
  12. Let it harden
  13. Put the filter back 
  14. Clicking it back on the airco

 

The intake grid and filter can still be removed, although it is a bit harder bc the whole isn't as flexible as it originally was.

The Freecad file is probably very clunky, this is the first complex project I did on it. I included the file anyway in case someone wanted to use a different hose diameter or something like that.
