Ikea Kallax Shelf for DVD/GAMES

🇬🇧 Shelf for IKEA Kallax – Optimized modular design

I created this custom shelf for my IKEA Kallax unit, as part of my new studio setup (photos attached). I searched for several existing projects online, but many of them used too much material and required too many hours of printing.

So I decided to design an optimized solution, based on three key principles:

• ✅ Material saving
• ⏱️ Shorter printing times
• 🧱 Structural strength

The design is modular, so each piece can be printed separately, avoiding long single-session prints.

The shape fully exploits the depth of the Kallax, allowing DVDs or PS2, PS3, PS4, and PS5 games to sit raised at the back, leaving room in the front for a second row — or, as I’ve done, to display steelbooks and collector's edition action figures.

🔧 The result is a functional, practical, and aesthetically valuable shelf for any setup.

🇮🇹 Mensola per Kallax IKEA – Design modulare ottimizzato

Ho realizzato questa mensola su misura per il mobile Kallax di Ikea, pensando al mio nuovo setup nello studio (trovate le foto allegate). Dopo aver cercato diversi progetti online, mi sono reso conto che molti consumavano troppo materiale e richiedevano troppe ore di stampa.

Così ho deciso di progettare una soluzione ottimizzata, che rispettasse tre esigenze fondamentali:

• ✅ Risparmio di materiale
• ⏱️ Tempi di stampa ridotti
• 🧱 Robustezza strutturale

Il design è modulare: ogni pezzo è facilmente stampabile separatamente, evitando stampe troppo lunghe in un’unica sessione.

La forma sfrutta al massimo la profondità del Kallax, permettendo di poggiare in fondo DVD o giochi per PS2, PS3, PS4 e PS5 in posizione rialzata, lasciando spazio nella parte anteriore per una seconda fila oppure – come nel mio caso – per esporre steelbooks o action figure da collezione.

🔧 Il risultato è una mensola funzionale, pratica e che aggiunge valore estetico e organizzativo al setup.
