This is a new revision of the airtight dry box for the MMS with a material Rewind function.

See the video below, the material can be rolled back by pulling the rack.

This is a brand-new version of the "MMS Manual Material Management System" with a material rewind function, using standard 4L airtight containers.

As shown in the video below, the filament can be rewound into the container by pulling the rack.

And the design of the "clutch" ensures that the filament is fed smoothly during printing. See the link below for a video guide on assembling the single unit.

The clutch design prevents the filament from being hindered during printing. Refer to the video below for the assembly sequence and complete the assembly of the single unit.

Additional components

Parts other than the printed parts.

1. φ4*4mm magnets------3PCS. Place three magnets in the three holes below. And make sure these two parts attract each other with the magnet.

Φ4mm*4mm high strong magnets------3 pieces. Install three strong magnets as shown below. And ensure that the two components can attract each other as shown.

2. 2.2mm*6mm self tapping screw-------1PC.

2.2mm*6mm self-tapping screw---1 piece. (You can use similar specifications as a replacement)

3. Silicon rubber tube inner dia. 14 outer dia. 18.

Put the tube on as shown in the picture below.

See the link below for your reference. I bought the tube from here.

Silicone rubber tube, with the following dimensions: Inner diameter 14mm, outer diameter 18mm.

Put the tube on the roller as shown.

The link below is for reference. This is the Taobao store where I purchased the tube.

The link to the airtight box. The size is about 220.7*95.5 with R22.7 Fillet. If you can't find this size box in your country, tell me what you found. I will check if I can modify the design to fit your size or not.

Here is the link for purchasing the 4L airtight box. The size of the opening is 220.7*95.5, with four rounded corners of R22.7. If you can't find an airtight box of the correct size in your country, please tell me the sizes you can find and I will check if I can modify the design to fit your size.

One of the greatest DIY filament drybox solution out there, if not the best. I've made a silica gel drybox specifically for this. (https://makerworld.com/zh/models/489497) Hope ya'all enjoy this drybox even more!

Since the accessories were only fully gathered after the New Year, I finally finished assembling it. Many thanks to the author for the excellent design. I drew a thermometer holder myself and glued it inside, submitting my work here Once the non-woven bags arrive in a few days, I can put in the desiccant and load the filament Some folks in the comments mentioned a jamming issue. Because the return magnets are far apart, their effect is not very reliable I ground down 4 teeth on the rack. Although it won't jam, when it gets stuck, the entire mechanism moves, which is still quite strenuous Later, I ground down two teeth on the gear. Although there's a neutral gear during Filament Pull Back, it fundamentally prevents jamming. Thanks again to the creator

How did that three-foot swing arm gear suddenly fail 😅 That's completely unnecessary Every time I push the rack all the way, there's no problem at all Have you not calibrated it properly yet This is what a properly calibrated one looks like, see the picture below This is due to magnetic attraction The swing arm must be loose, it won't work if it's too tight

Maybe it's because I printed with PETG, or the magnets I bought aren't good, but it's not as smooth as your GIF demonstration😁 Removing 2 teeth from the gear is to prevent all gears from rotating together when it gets stuck

Printed it assembled it it's very ingenious Starting to buy other accessories I have a question what is the purpose of those 3 magnets I haven't installed the magnets yet and it moves very smoothly can I do without them

It is best to install those magnets as they are very effective at preventing the gear on the swing arm from sliding back under the roller and engaging with the roller's gear due to vibration or other reasons, which could easily jam the roller and cause feeding failure. Magnets holding it in place completely eliminate this issue. I haven't encountered such problems so far, and this serves as a double safeguard. You can follow my TikTok; I will explain it in more detail there

Understood, thank you! So the top and bottom magnets are attracted to each other instead of repelling each other

The print quality is excellent! I'm just waiting for the remaining non-printed parts to ship. I just finished assembling it, and it's an amazing design, working perfectly so far. [Photo update] I'm even more impressed with the designer's thought process and material choices after assembling it. For example, the bearings fit perfectly into the slot and roll smoothly without popping out. The use of silicone tubing is far better than other TPU-printed bearing solutions. If possible, I would love to see a base with a reverse material feed option.

Okay, I'll think about which parts need to be mirrored and which don't. So far, it seems like just the base and the pull bar

Have you considered to put a fitting for the outside PTFE tube? that way you can ensure an airtight seal and attach an outside ptfe tube when you want to use it like other style dryboxes?

This is the link in taobao. I do believe that 4L box are all this size. And if you found it is different with this one, contact me, i may make a special version to you and your country. https://item.taobao.com/item.htm?_u=c5bq5moaee6&id=639130539569&spm=a1z09.2.0.0.21572e8dN68Uq0

Here is the cheapest I could find. It's about 85x220mm https://a.co/d/6gOyNfh Also, you put 4x4mm magnets. Does it need a cube? Or can I put 2* 4x2mm circular magnets?

yes the magnet is cylinder diameter is 4mm. and height is also 4mm. if you have T=2mm magnet, stack two instead it should be OK. and the purpose of the magnets is gurantee the swing gear not move to under roller and mate with roller by viberation and so on, it is very important. i have no idea about the box. you can measure the 3D model to check if it can fit in or not. and maybe you can modify my model if you can.

The design is very ingenious The coordination of the gears allows the rollers to rotate and rewind the filament eliminating the need to open the box to rewind it It should work even better when used later with the author's filament loader
