- Nikola Tesla (July 10 [O.S. July 9], 1856 – January 7, 1943) was a Serbian-American inventor and electrical engineer who pioneered alternating-current (AC) power systems
- He invented the Tesla coil in 1891 and worked with Westinghouse to light the 1893 World’s Columbian Exposition and harness Niagara Falls for AC power
- Though he held over 300 patents during his life, Tesla died in relative poverty, yet his visionary ideas on wireless energy and resonance continue to influence modern technology
