Update:
I've removed the cutouts for the power button and DC port and replaced them with negative parts in Bambu Studio. The front hole is now set to 16mm and the rear to 8mm. If your power button or DC port is a different size, simply scale the corresponding negative cylinders to fit your components.

 

Bladeless Fan – 120mm High-Speed DIY Assembly (60cm Tall)

This design uses a 120mm high-speed fan and prints in 4 main parts, with a detachable base to house the essential electronics.

Key Features:

  • Modular Design: Printed in 4 pieces for easy handling and printing, then glued together. The base is screw-mounted, allowing convenient access for installing the fan and wiring.
  • Compact Core, Massive Build: When fully assembled, the fan stands at a massive 60cm tall (approximately 23.6 inches), weighing in at 1.8kg of filament – a bold and functional centerpiece.
  • Efficient Internal Layout: Inside the base, you’ll install a high-speed 120mm fan, a DC power connector, a latching push-button switch, and use cut fan wire for internal connections.
  • Power Requirements: Operates on a 12V DC power adapter (not included). For best results, choose a fan with strong airflow and static pressure.
  • Assembly Tips: Use a thick adhesive or silicone sealant to glue parts together and create an airtight chamber – critical for airflow performance.

Personal Testing Notes:

I had a few old PC fans lying around, so I used them to test out the design. One of them was noticeably faster than the others, but I don’t know its exact RPM. It produced a light, gentle breeze—enough to show the concept works, but nowhere near the airflow of commercial bladeless fans. Electricals aren’t really my strong point, so if anyone has recommendations for a truly powerful 120mm fan to get the most out of this build, I’d really appreciate it. I’ve added a photo of the fan I tested for reference.

Does it actually work?
Yes – but performance depends entirely on using a high-performance fan. With enough airflow and pressure, it produces a real, focused stream of air similar to commercial bladeless fans.
