Update: I designed a vertical stand add-on for this model. If you already printed this model, I recommend als printing the vertical stand for more fexibility and making more out of your camera grip. It uses the original screw and the body. You can find it here:

Vertical Stand for Universal Camera Grip

I previously made a grip case for my phone, which worked okay. But I’ve always wondered if I could accurately replicate the grip shape of real cameras and make it compatible with most of the smartphones. Here's the link if you are curious.

It took me a while and quite a bit of prototyping, but I believe I finally nailed it. The shape fits your hand very comfortably and makes shooting much smoother by preventing hand cramps. Also the screw mechanism lets you fit any phone up to 12mm (with case) thickness.

Printing Details

  • The model prints with minimal support that’s easy to remove.
  • I printed it in PLA and haven’t tested other filaments, but I recommend trying a different color for the screw—it looks much cooler that way.

Assembly Tip

When you assemble it for the first time, put the screw in by spinning it back and forth. It can be hard to turn the screw if you skip this step, but it should run smoothly after you gradually insert it at the beginning.

Usage

I recommend using it with a case; this helps the attachment grip your phone more securely and prevents scratches.

If you print it, please leave a comment—I’d be happy to improve it based on your feedback.

Have a great day!
