Description

Life-size (42.5x scale) L3G0 Star Wars blaster, printed in Overture Black and Red Transparent PETG on an H2D. It is about 35in/90cm tall, 13.5in/34cm diameter, and the handle sticks out about 6.5in/16.5cm. All large parts were done at 2 walls and 3% infill, the Body Dowels and Human Handle were done at 7% infill for more strength. If I were to print it again I may move up to 4 walls, I mainly did 2 to reduce print time. This took ~4.65kg of filament and ~140 hours of printing in total.

Thanks to @thall72 on Printables (https://www.printables.com/@thall72/models?ordering=liked) for uploading tons of L3G0 piece STLs. I used their STL files for the blaster (piece 4349) and stud (piece 4073) as references, then recreated them as solid bodies and split into printable pieces for an H2D. The blaster fits together with printed dowels, I slightly undersized them and then wrapped them in masking tape until they were snug fits. I also used some hot glue to help keep some of the larger seams together.

The 42.5x scale is based on scaling a 4cm L3G0 minifigure to the average 170cm human height, per this website: https://brickarchitect.com/scale/. Because L3G0 minifigures are almost double the width of a human when scaled by height, the 42.5x scaling can look “too big" in the hands of a normal sized human. I wanted to keep this model as a true life-size, so I stuck with the 42.5x scalar. Plus it looks funnier this way.

I have included the original .F3D file and a .STEP file for anyone who'd like to further split the model to fit on smaller printers.
