Stewart Platform Phone/Camera holder
Print Profile(2)

Description
Hello, this is a Stewart platform meant to act as a phone/camera holder which is fully 3D printed.
Its a pretty cool kinematic mechanism that allows for almost any orientation with 6DOF.
The design is inspired by this model: https://makerworld.com/en/models/707198-6-dof-platform?from=search#profileId-639603.
Be warned, this model will require a bit of assembly, about 5-10 min. It doesn’t require any tools or anything and is fully 3D printable. If you want to use it with a proper camera, there is a separate stl for the top interface that was a hole for a ¼” camera screw.
So either go with the phone holder version or the camera holder version. The included .3mf file includes everything for the phone holder version
Printables:
- 6x bottom_screw_(1)
- 6x top_screw(2)
- 6x link_center
- 18x fastner_screw
- 12x joint_center
- 12x joint_link_bottom
- 3x large_bottom_slice_part
- Phone holder version:
- 1x phone-screw
- 1x phone_holder_top
- 1x phone_holder
- 1x phone_holder_nut
- Camera hodler version:
- top-interface-camera
After printing everything for the phone holder version you should have something like in the image below:

Looks like a lot, but its pretty simpel.
Assembly:
1. First assemble to universal joints by forcing a joint_link_bottom down unto a joint_center, this might require a bit of force. Remember to use the side that as the cut out groove to make it easier like seen in the image.

This step needs to be repeated for all 12 joint_link_bottoms and joint_centers, leaving you with 12 bottom joint assemblies like in the image below:

2. Now force each of the different screws (6x bottom_screw_(1) and 6x top_screw(2)) unto a bottom joint assembly like in step 1. So in total you should have 6 bottom joint assemblies with a bottom_screw attached and 6 bottom joint assemblies with a top_screw attached, so 12 full joint assemblies. Again this might require a bit of foce.

3. Screw each joint assmbly pair into a link_center like in the image below. The bottom screw screws in clockwise and the top screws screws in counter clock wise. For the best results screw each as far in as possible. When this is done for all pairs you should have 6 complete joint-link-joint assemblies like in the image.

4. Assemble the bottom ring interface by screwing together the 3 large_bottom_slice_part together as seen in the image below using the fastner_screws.

5. Take each of the joint-link-joint assemblies and inssert it into a slot in the ring and secure each of them with a fastner_screw like in the image. Remember to tighten the screw properly (all the way in).
RIght now the joint-link-joint assemblies are split into “pairs”.

6. Now its time to attach the top interface. The one thing to keep in mind is that a pair should NOT be connected to the same pair slot in the top interface. Do like in the images below. You might have to turn the screw_links to get them into the slots, but that will not cause any issues. Secure them with the fastner_screws like in step 5.
If you are doing the camera holder version you are done after this step, simply attached the camera through the hole in the bottom.

7. Now its time to insert the camera holder screw, screw it into the hole of the phone holder top interface. Put it in the correct way so that a fastner screw can be used in the bottom. This fastner screw will be screwed in COUNTER CLOCK WISE.

8. Finally slide down the phone holder on the screw and top it off with the phone holder nut. Simply insert your phone and screw down the phone holder until the phone is secured tightly.
The finished product is easy to use, simply turn the link_centers to adjust the length of each “leg”.
